The HALO Seal was specifically developed to address tension pneumothorax, the second leading cause of preventable death in combat situations. It is an occlusive dressing that is designed to be durable, with a strong adhesive that ensures it remains in place even in challenging operational environments.

Key features of the HALO Seal include its ability to retain effectiveness even when folded or crushed, with dimensions of 6.5” x 5.5” and a latex-free construction. It has a shelf life of 6 years and is proudly manufactured in the USA.

The HALO Advantage of HALO Gel is a highly effective medical grade hydrogel that allows the HALO Seal to adhere in wet, bloody, sandy, or harsh conditions. It also features scrim, a non-woven material that prevents the gel from migrating in high heat environments, with a temperature range of -30° to 140° F.

The outer tape edge of the HALO Seal is designed to be forgiving when handling with gloved or bare hands, with studies showing that it has a wider operating temperature range and performs well in freezing and elevated temperatures. The size and shape of the dressing cover a larger surface area and help to address unpredictable wound patterns, with an oval shape that allows for better adherence to the body's contours. A large pull tab enables easy placement and wound burping.

The packaging of the HALO Seal is durable and resistant to water, air, gases, punctures, and tears. The material can also be used as an additional occlusive barrier by securing it with tape, and the package includes tear notches at all four corners for easy access.
